New virtual reality technologies will be taking the guesswork out of re-designing your home. No longer will you need to imagine whether a specific colour or lighting effect will be suitable for a particular room in your house, since you now have hundreds of mobile phone apps at your fingertips to show you exactly how it would look before spending (and possibly wasting) a single penny.

2. New Colour Trends

It might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but neon is set to make a big comeback in 2020, particularly for wedding decor designs. A neon sign can certainly make a dramatic impact if you’re looking to make a statement, either in your own home or at an event you’re organising.
5. Vertical Botanical Rooms
As more and more city dwellers crave an escape from the concrete jungle around them, we predict that many will strive to incorporate a bit of the natural world into their own homes, in the form of a botanical room. Incorporating foliage, fauna and flora from floor to ceiling into your design with a mix of natural green paint, floral wallpaper and plant-like textiles (artificial grass wall, anyone?) can look spectacular, and we predict you will be bang on trend if you opt to go down this route.
6. Textile Wall Art
If research on Pinterest is anything to go by (and it usually is!), then there is a growing trend towards design elements that make an interior feel warm and cosy. We predict that this trend will extend to how many of us will decide to adorn the walls of our homes.
There are now some amazing examples of textile artefacts which can be hung as statement pieces in the rooms of your house or workplace. Boutique handmade and vintage shopping websites such as Etsy are a good place to start if you want to see the extent of what’s out there.
7. Corduroy Soft Furnishings
From upholstery to soft furnishings, corduroy (a more hardwearing form of velvet) has made a big comeback in 2019, and we predict it will be here to stay throughout 2020 too. Not only is corduroy smart, durable and practical, it is also surprisingly affordable, and is now available in a huge range of attractive colours and shades to suit any room design.
